Habit #13: Eventually the Excuses do Expire
52 Habits to Change My Life
How many times a day do you come up with a excuse for why you cannot do something? How many times do you turn down opportunities that you know will probably be great but you are “not ready” or “there’s too much going on”?
It’s likely so often we don’t know the exact answer.
We all have excuses, explanations and reasons why we cannot and will not do a thing. Especially for those things we know we should do and truly do want to do.
My Top 3 Excuses:
- I will do that when everything calms down…
Note to self: there will always be something going on.
Yes. There are times where there is too much going on. But opting out of the training opportunity at work when you are involved in training new hires is not going to help you. Just go do it. You will find the time to get it done.
2. The markets are doing weird things right now better not invest in anything at all…
Key part “better not invest in anything at all”.
You don’t always have to be investing into the stock markets or crypto.
Invest into you. But yourself a treat for a new routine that will help you. Take some me-time. After that invest some money into new equipment or the parts to diy new equipment for your hobby.
Invest into learning about topics that you are interested in.
Never stop investing into you.
3. I don’t know if I can afford that…(I can)
You know what you can’t afford. You can’t afford that new car but you can afford the new equipment to take your hobbies to a new level.
Stop holding yourself hostage over a piece of equipment that will help you know will last for years, you need and have a use for it, and it will make everything easier for you.
Saying you can’t afford it when you can is fear taking over you. It’s fear of making a move towards your vision for the next chapter in your life. How can you consistently write when your laptop keeps dying or sounds like its a spaceship about to take off?😅 That was me.
Time to For the Excuses to Die
There is a time when every excuse you have against something has to die. You need to stop talking, thinking, and scheming so you can go take some action towards what you want in your life.
If you want to go on that trip. Stop saying you can’t afford it or can’t afford to take time off from your everyday responsibilities. Start asking yourself how you can afford it. Then begin to take one action towards your dream trip.
Change your excuse from can’t to how. That is all you have to do to kill your excuse.
What excuse are you going to kill, so you can move ahead faster and further?
