And other things I learned from Tony Robbins.

I was in Tony Robbins’ Breakthrough 2022 Challenge last week. The challenge was a free event to show participants how to make 2022 their greatest year yet.

Tony always over-delivers in value in every event and interview he does. A lot of what he taught in his Breakthrough 2022 Challenge was exactly what I needed to hear.

Here are the most important lessons I learned.

Change Your Story Change Your Life

There are times when simply changing your strategy to solve a problem works. Those are the times when you are working towards something that lines up with your identity.

If you say you are a writer then making changes to your writing strategy will help you improve your writing to have the impact you want to have.

But what about when you want to learn to do something completely new? Or when you realize every strategy you try to break a bad habit is not working?

This is when you have to change who you are to make the big changes. Changing the strategy is not going to create the change you are seeking.

Instead of following the pattern of:

change your strategy → change your story → change your state (identity).

It needs to be the other way:

change your state (identity) → change your story → change your strategy.

The lesson = Your beliefs control everything.

If you believe you are not fast enough to earn that opportunity. No change in strategy to improve your abilities is going to increase your speed. You need to believe that you are gaining speed with every opportunity you take to do that task.

Our beliefs and identity do come from the environments we put ourselves in. But there is a limit.

Proximity is power. When you put yourself near people who have or are working towards what you want. You will be inspired to keep learning and improving because you’ll see that it is possible to achieve what you want.

Remember that you choose your identity. If you constantly hear (or tell yourself) negative things you are going to believe…
